Student Leaders Roll Out School Climate Survey Results:   Twenty-two student leaders representing every grade level have been working with consultants from Main Street Academix to improve school climate at Pittsfield Middle High School.  The student leaders administered an online survey to approximately 70% of students in grades 7-12 and invited faculty and staff to participate in a staff version of the survey.  Bryan Partridge and Rachael Frost of Main Street Academix (MSA) brought the results to the students in mid-February, and led students through analysis of the data to identify goals for school improvement.  That afternoon, several students shared individual comments from the survey at a faculty meeting to introduce teachers to the process of analyzing results and setting goals.  Though working separately, the similarity in several student and faculty goals is striking:  (more…)

Pittsfield Middle High School’s Special Education teacher, Sheila Ward, has had a busy spring receiving two “Teacher of the Year” Awards. In April, Ward received her second consecutive “Teacher of the Year” Award presented by WalMart of Hooksett. On June 13, she was also presented with the 2009 “Special Education Teacher of the Year” Award at The 16th Annual Excellence in Education (“ED”ie) Awards chosen by The Council for Exceptional Children – New Hampshire. Summer School Information

Please read the following article for information regarding summer school being offered throughout the District this year.  Please call the program director with any questions.

The summer school program for Pittsfield Elementary school runs from July 6 through August 6 (Monday-Thursday),from 8:30-11:30 a.m. All students have been invited and will receive a informational letter at the end of  June. The Director of this year’s summer program is Sheila Bartlett.  Please contact her if any questions. Snack juice will be provided, but parents/guardians are asked to send in a healthy snack. PES Hoops

The students and staff of Pittsfield Elementary School wish to publically thank community members for the installation of two new basketball goals on school property near the Winant Road entrance. Two parents and local contractors, David Provencal of Dave Provencal Carpentry and Matt St. George of St. George Auto Body and Storage, volunteered their time and expertise to plan and lead the installation of the two heavy-duty playground goals. The installation took place on Mothers’ Day, May 10.

The Pittsfield School District will be holding a community forum on June 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  We will be discussing our draft district vision and mission statement, use of stimulus funds, and the location of the S.A.U. office.  Please come and join in these important discussions; let your voice be heard.

Alumni Input Wanted

Recent graduates of Pittsfield Middle High School interested in sharing their experiences and words of wisdom for current students are asked to contact Leslie Bergevin, Guidance Director, at 435-6701 or Contact.  Recent graduates are invited to meet with administrators to help develop a vision of what PMHS students should be able to do upon graduation. The activity is part of the Pittsfield School District’s reconsideration of its mission as the school board and staff work to create stronger continuity across all grades.
