Pittsfield Elementary School was built in 1989 with an addition for the Kindergarten program in 1999. It has has 14 classrooms grades 1-6 and 2 kindergarten classrooms. Students also use gymnasium, computer lab, art room, music room and library. There are about 360 students enrolled preschool through 6th grade.
The staff of Pittsfield Elementary School use The Four Blocks Literacy Frameworks to guide Literacy Instruction. PES adopted the program in 2000. PES adopted the Everyday Math Program in 2004 to guide Mathematics education and meet the state standards. The staff uses the Responsive Classroom and P.B.I.S (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support) to guide classroom management and school wide discipline.
Pittsfield Elementary School has 16 classroom teachers and 3 unified arts teachers for art, music and physical education. There are 7 Special Education teachers. Student’s learning is also supported by many other special education staff, title one teachers, and paraprofessionals.
