Spring Music and Arts Festival First through Third Grade – Tuesday, May 15 at 6:30 pm

You are cordially invited to join us this Tuesday 15, 2012 for our First through Third Grade Spring Music and Arts Festival. The night’s festivities begin between 6:00-6:30 pm, featuring student art work on display in the lobby at PMHS. The musical performance will begin at 6:30pm in the PMHS gym. Students performing need to report to the PMHS café by 6:10pm. The students have been working very hard for this end of the year performance/display and we are excited to share our music and art with you. It will be a great time for all, so please help us celebrate their successes!

Stay tuned: Tuesday, May 22nd will be the Spring Music and Arts Festival for fourth through eighth grade.

Read Across America

It’s Read Across America week next week at Pittsfield Elementary School.  Look for a letter coming home today from our librarian, Susan Kinney, who  is the prime organizer of RAA events, to learn about fun learning events planned for the week.



Jump Rope for Heart

This morning students came together in the gym for our annual Jump Rope for Heart kickoff. In the coming weeks stu-dents will be practicing jump roping and strengthening their hearts, not only by getting a workout , but also by serving others and raising money for the American Heart Association.



Fungo a Big Hit with Readers

On Tuesday, January 24th, Pittsfield Elementary School had a visit from Fungo, the Fisher Cats’ mascot. He loves to read and he was here to get the whole student body excited about the NH Fisher Cats Reading Challenge.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats Reading Challenge challenges students to read five books outside the normal curriculum during the school year. When students complete the challenge, they receive two complimentary tickets to a Fisher Cats baseball game this spring where they will be able to be recognized on the field before the game! Everyone is very excited about the challenge and motivated to complete it.



Fisher Cats Reading Challenge

PES will be participating on the NH Fisher Cats Reading Challenge, a program run in partnership with the Community College System of New Hampshire. Each student who completes the challenge—reading five books in addition to their regular classroom reading—will receive two tickets to go see the Fisher Cats this spring.

Susan Kinney is organizing the challenge here at school and she has arranged for Fungo, the Fisher Cats’ mascot to visit our school next Tuesday, January 24, for a special morning assembly from 8:05 to 8:30. Fungo will attempt to get our readers excited and explain how the challenge works.



Pizza Fundraiser Tuesday

Teachers will be sending home flyers today about the PES Technology Team pizza fundraiser. Eat at your favorite pizzeria on Tuesday and earn money technology supplies.



Lunch Pals for Grade 6

The Pittsfield Elementary School PTO will sponsor a lunch with 6th grade parents on Wed., Jan. 11th. Parents are invited to eat lunch with their child. Students should be bringing home information today. For grades 1 -5 we have had a turn out of about 15-25 parents each time.



Holiday Concert – December 20th

Students in grades four through six are eagerly preparing to perform for you at the Holiday Concert! Our 4th – 8th grade performance will be held on Tuesday, December 20th at the Pittsfield Middle High school, in the gym at 6:30 pm. Band students need to report to the high school gym at 6:00 pm. All other performing students need to report to the high school cafeteria at 6:15 pm. Please be sure your performer is nicely dressed for the occasion!
