3rd Grade Artist-in-Residence

By Clayton Wood

This week, third graders worked with Marek Bennett, a New Hampshire based cartoonist, musician, and educator. Students were able to incorporate sequential narrative cartooning techniques into a comic about a region of the United States. Marek’s comic work includes his recent web comic and graphic novel, SLOVAKIA: Fall in the Heart of Europe, numerous community specific mini-comics projects (such as serving as the Official Cartoonist of New Hampshire’s Weeks Act Centennial), the long-running Xeric Awardwinning weekly newspaper strip “Mimi’s Doughnuts”, and more. The third graders had a great time discovering their own unique capacities for storytelling and communication as they created their region comics.

Pennies for Patient Drive

By Clayton Wood

Pennies for Patients

The ABC Kindness Club finished up an amazing drive.  The students raised 1,219.64 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  The money was raised in honor of Joey Martin, a second grade Pittsfield student who is currently in treatment.

We have a wonderful caring group of students at PES!  Ms Allens grade 5 class wins the pizza party with 159.09 in donations.
Thank You to Rustic Crust of Pittsfield NH and our Cafe Services who will work together on the pizza party.

Pittsfield College Students Return for PES Students

By Clayton Wood

2014-01-11_11-38-03

Pittsfield students home for vacation shared with PES 5th and 6th grade students about their experiences at college. The Pittsfield Middle High School hosted the meeting in the PMHS lecture hall. The discussion was facilitated by Angelia Castongauy from NHHEAF. Topics covered were dorm life, majors, clubs on campus, rules at college, roommates and of course food! It was great to have these students back in our school to share their experiences. They are doing amazing things!
