Homework Expectations

During the months of May and June your child will be working on the following skills and concepts.

  • Everyday Mathematics: Units 10 & 11 : Learning about Money and Multiplication
  • Guided Reading : Fables, Folktales, and Nonfiction Books About Animals
  • Workshop writing- We are publishing poetry and writing a report! 
  • Social Studies: Learning About Character and Summer Holidays
  • Science: The Plants and Animals in Habitats
  • Responsive Classroom Social Curriculum
  • Homework will be given nearly every night. The math program has frequent home link activities and the children are expected to read for 15 minutes every day. A few times a year there will be projects of a longer duration that your child may need assistance with. Use the following as a guideline:
    Monday:

    • Read for 20 minutes. Review the word wall words of the week with your parents.
    • Complete your math home link assignment.

    Tuesday:

    • Read for 20 minutes.
    • Complete your math home link assignment.
    • Complete the word wall practice sheet.

    Wednesday:

    • Read for 20 minutes.
    • Complete your math home link assignment. Play a math game.

    Thursday:

    • Read for 20 Minutes.
    • Study this week’s Word Wall Words for the Review tomorrow.
    • Complete your math home link assignment.

    Friday, Saturday, and Sunday:

    • Read for 20 minutes each day.
    • Play a math game.
